Martin (Marty) Harper

Why would someone whose hometown hosts a bike race called the "hotter’n hell hundred" want to move to Colorado?  After forty–plus years of the Texas heat, when Marty and Sara had an opportunity to relocate to Colorado Springs they jumped on it.  Thanks to technology, the accounting firm they established in Dallas in 1990 was “moveable” – why not?

Marty first went to work in Public Accounting in 1977 (the same year he and Sara married) and took a job in Dallas after graduation from Midwestern State University in 1979. Growing up in an oil town, he’s had the opportunity to work in all phases of the business – from the field to the office.  From the small firm he started with in “the Falls” to his current firm in “the Springs” small, family run businesses have always been the mainstay of the practice.

"We’ve had the opportunity to see amazing things happen in this business.  In the 70’s there were no personal computers. The computer I used in College was less powerful than the phone I use today.  Spreadsheets, desktop accounting programs, electronic filing off practically all tax reports - today one person can do what used to take an entire accounting staff.  This has freed up resources for small business owners.  Most of our clients can do the day to day accounting themselves and use us to review their work and prepare tax reports.”
